Peter
Knipp
New Asia Cuisine Scene
SINGAPORE
|
This is a charismatic individual who worked his way across the world from culinary
apprenticeship at the Berlin Hilton, and concluded his calling as executive
chef with a 5-year stint at the legendary Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
Now he heads the dynamic food and beverage business venture known as Peter
Knipp Holdings (PKH) with confidence, vision and passion. Aside from providing
consultancy services alongside a bi-monthly magazine, The New Asia Cuisine &
Wine Scene, that is distributed worldwide, the company is also involved in numerous
IT projects. Knipp's fascination with the endless possibilities offered by technology
and various information channels has led him to a much deeper involvement in
the IT field recently. Having strived to build an F&B information portal
on the Internet (www.asiacuisine.com) that is now winning top awards, he is
looking at other potential integrations between his two first loves - the art
of dining, and the art of communication.
As the co-organiser of The World Gourmet Summit (WGS) in Singapore every year,
this man and the dedicated team that stands with him brings some of the industry's
best in the world to the island for one week of gastronomic activity. The task
is mammoth, but the results are rewarding - Singapore is undoubtedly being more
and more recognised as the culinary hub of Asia. Recently, WGS 2001 was awarded
the IFEA (International Festivals and Events Association) Grand Pinnacle Gold
Award in USA. Singapore is the first Asian country to have accomplished this.
In addition, PKH was conferred the Tourism Award Singapore Best Event Organiser
(Special Events), affirming the event's stature and success.
Being still heavily involved in chef-related organisations like The World Association
of Cook's Societies (website maintenance) and the Singapore Chefs Association
(vice-president), he is naturally a much sought-after speaker at conventions,
forums and festivals related to food and hospitality. He is known as a trendsetter,
a powerful motivator of people, a man with unending business ideas who always
focuses on the process of growth instead of a final product.
Occasionally you'll also find him riding on the roads in full Harley gear,
or relaxing at home together with the woman who has been running the business
beside him for six years, and their two sons.
